Desecrated Chapel
The Chapel became the Cyberpunk RED crew’s next nightmare when they pushed below and found the horror waiting downstairs. The session opened with quick upgrades, ammo sorting, weapon handoffs, and recovery after the brutal chapel fight. Bull improved his brawling after losing a hand. Winter picked up a very heavy pistol and recovered a few usable arrows. Meanwhile, Nova reminded everyone that her lifesaving medical gear was spent, which made the next fight feel much worse before it even started.
However, the crew still moved toward the basement. Music thundered from below, and the stairs led into a massive chapel lined with blood red candles, spent ammo casings, a red pentagram, and an upside-down crucifix. Two robed figures stood near the altar, but the scene quickly proved that nothing in the Desecrated Chapel was honest. Bull tried to approach with one hand raised, Iris spotted hidden cables, and a Bluetooth access point revealed the truth. The robed figures were automated turrets.
As a result, the session split into two kinds of combat at once. Iris entered the NET and fought a Raven program while the rest of the crew shot, hid, reloaded, and blasted the turrets apart. Then Professor Adrian Huntver charged from behind the curtain with vampire fangs, biotoxin, claws, and a brutal connection to Defect’s past. By the end, the crew saved Lucy Reinmeyer, uncovered Project Halcyon, escaped with evidence, and walked away with money, reputation, and a lot more questions than comfort.
Key Characters Introduced
- Professor Adrian Huntver: The former psychology professor and genetics doctor revealed himself as the cyberpsycho behind the basement experiments in the Desecrated Chapel.
- Sabrine Kessler: The Biotechnica Special Projects Division director, appeared through a letter that connected Huntver to Project Halcyon.
- Project Halcyon: The Biotechnica initiative became a major clue tied directly to Defect’s backstory and Huntver’s genetic work.
Key Events
- The crew recovered and redistributed gear: Before entering the basement, the party handled improvement points, weapon handoffs, ammo splits, recovered arrows, and reloads. This gave the session a practical start after the bloody fight upstairs.
- The basement revealed the Desecrated Chapel: Bull listened through the corridor and heard several speakers blasting music. Then the group entered a candlelit chapel with a pentagram, an upside-down crucifix, robed figures, and no clean way back to safety.
- The robed figures became automated turrets: Iris spotted cables running from the figures into the wall. When Bull crossed the trigger line, the robes dropped away and exposed machine gun turrets in the Desecrated Chapel.
- Iris entered the NET architecture: Iris connected through the Bluetooth access point, scanned the system, found Raven programs, a Hellhound, and turret controls, then fought inside the NET while the physical battle unfolded around her.
- The crew destroyed the turrets: Winter’s armor-piercing arrows, Bull’s shots, and the crew’s focused fire took down the turrets before they could shred everyone through the pews.
- Huntver attacked with vampire cyberware: Huntver burst from behind the curtain, bit Bull with biotoxin-loaded fangs, slashed with claws, and showed how far his obsession and cyberpsychosis had gone.
- Defect destroyed Huntver with the ornate stake: After several shots bounced off Huntver’s armor, Defect charged in with the stake, landed a brutal hit, and made Huntver explode into gore after hearing his own name.
- Lucy Reinmeyer was found alive: Behind the curtain, the crew found Biotechnica bio tubes, dead failed subjects, and Lucy Reinmeyer alive in one pod after Huntver tried to make her look like Barbara Dahl.
- The Project Halcyon letter changed everything: Iris found Huntver’s genetics doctorate and a Biotechnica letter from Sabrine Kessler. The letter confirmed Huntver had worked on Project Halcyon before losing access in the Desecrated Chapel.
- The crew returned Lucy and earned a reputation: After tense debate, the crew got Lucy to safety, confirmed her identity, negotiated payment, and gained a reputation for saving a corporate executive’s daughter.
Standout Party Member Moments
- ChoJo: ChoJo nearly sabotaged stealth with loud notifications, helped sell the drunken cover story while moving Lucy, and somehow kept performing through crushed fingers.
- Thiago: Thiago gathered loot, tracked the Barbara Dahl lead, searched Huntver’s documents, and later negotiated better payment for recovering Lucy alive.
- Nova: Nova pushed hardest to protect Lucy, opened the bio tube, treated her afterward, and promised Defect they would not hand her back to Biotechnica.
- Bull: Bull led the basement approach, triggered the trap, destroyed a turret, survived Huntver’s biotoxin bite, and still tried to reason through the aftermath.
- Winter: Winter shifted from gear questions to combat impact, using armor-piercing arrows to help destroy the turret and damage Huntver’s heavy armor.
- Iris: Iris spotted the hidden cables, found the access point, entered the NET, fought the Raven program, and uncovered the letter that tied Huntver to Project Halcyon.
- Defect: Defect went from warning everyone not to go downstairs to driving a stake into Huntver, then broke down when Project Halcyon pulled his own past into the case.
Closing Statement
The Desecrated Chapel gave the crew a real ending to the nightmare, but it refused to offer clean closure. The basement was not just another combat room. It was a trap, a lab, a shrine, and a personal horror show hidden under the music. The party expected Lord Ruthven’s threat to wait below. Instead, they found Professor Adrian Huntver, a man who had mixed obsession, genetics, cyberware, and vampire imagery into something far uglier.
That discovery mattered because Huntver did not act like a random monster. He knew Defect’s name. He had ties to Biotechnica. He had worked on Project Halcyon. In addition, he had kidnapped Lucy Reinmeyer and other women so he could reshape them into Barbara Dahl. The crew saved Lucy, but they also found proof that the bigger story reaches beyond one basement and one cyberpsycho.
The victory still counted and the crew took down the Desecrated Chapel. The turrets were destroyed. Huntver was dead. Lucy survived. George Reinmeyer paid the crew, and their reputation rose across Night City. However, the cost remained visible. Bull still needs a hand. Defect now has a name connected to his past. Thiago has leads to chase. Nova has a patient who barely escaped. Iris knows the NET and the paperwork both pointed at something larger.
Next time, the crew leaves the Desecrated Chapel behind and steps into the consequences. Project Halcyon is no longer background noise. Sabrine Kessler is a name worth remembering. Biotechnica may not have caused Huntver’s final crimes, but its fingerprints are still close enough to matter. In Night City, that is never comforting.
