Intro Paragraph
Net 54 Mystery began with family secrets, gang research, and a profitable roller derby wager. Thiago’s investigation into Project Halcyon identified Rowan Vale as the person who extracted sensitive corporate data. Iris recognized him as her estranged father, adding a personal edge to the conspiracy. Meanwhile, the crew learned that several Bozo groups operated around Night City. Their list included Punchline Circus, Big Top Circus, Cirque de Bozo, and Saw Blade Circus. Thiago wanted revenge, although turning the clowns against one another remained an option.
The weekend offered a few wins before the bullets started flying. ChoJo handled the deciding roller derby roll and secured a successful two-to-one wager. Iris and Nova donated their winnings to Marianne for John’s care and the Forlorn Hope rebuilding fund. Bull also found grafted muscle and bone lace at a night market. However, he still needed a proper medical facility before installing it.
Then Jack Skorkowski called with another damaged property. A camera had gone dark at one of his South Night City storage units. Thiago negotiated the danger fee to 600 eddies per person, and the crew went to investigate. They found a hole blasted through the wall, a scorched camera, and scavengers stripping a tenant’s vintage car. The crew withdrew, circled the block, reloaded, and prepared an ambush.
That choice triggered a brutal firefight. ChoJo nearly died, Nova rushed to save him, and Bull traded shotgun fire with the scavenger leader. Thiago’s Valentino contacts finally ended the battle. Yet the real Net 54 Mystery emerged afterward. Security footage showed a reporter and a Net 54 van arriving just before an outside charge blew the garage door open. A bumper sticker then led the crew straight to Kassim’s Turkish Coffee Bar.
Key Characters Introduced
- Rowan Vale: Iris’s estranged father, identified in Project Halcyon records as the person who extracted sensitive corporate data.
- Jay: The armed scavenger leader who refused to leave the storage unit and fought the crew during the garage ambush.
Key Events
- Halcyon Exposes a Family Connection: Thiago’s fixer network uncovered evidence that Rowan Vale extracted data from Project Halcyon. Iris recognized the name as her estranged father, making the corporate investigation deeply personal.
- The Crew Wins Its Derby Wager: ChoJo made the deciding roll for the roller derby match. The team’s victory returned every stake plus twice that amount, and Iris and Nova donated their winnings to help John and rebuild the Forlorn Hope.
- Scavengers Strip a Vintage Car: Jack sent the crew to inspect a disabled camera at his storage property. They found a blast hole, a ruined camera, and armed scavengers dismantling a tenant’s valuable car.
- A Garage Ambush Turns Deadly: The crew pretended to retreat before attacking the thieves as they tried to leave. ChoJo suffered mortal injuries, but Nova used Speedheal and dragged him toward cover. Thiago’s Valentino reinforcements eventually overwhelmed the scavengers and secured the stolen property.
- Security Footage Creates a New Lead: The Net 54 Mystery deepened when Iris recovered footage showing a reporter and van arriving immediately before an externally planted charge breached the garage. Defect spotted a Kassim’s Turkish Coffee Bar bumper sticker, guiding the crew to the reporter’s apparent location.
Standout Party Member Moments
- ChoJo: He took responsibility for the decisive roller derby roll and secured a profitable victory for the entire crew.
- Iris: She recovered the damaged security footage that exposed the Net 54 van, the reporter, and the planted explosive.
- Defect: His sharp eye caught the Kassim’s Turkish Coffee Bar bumper sticker, turning vague footage into a usable lead.
- Bull: He landed an aimed shotgun blast on Jay’s head, then let his shield absorb the scavenger leader’s return fire.
- Thiago: He recognized Valentino territory, called his contacts, and brought in the reinforcements that ended the dangerous firefight.
- Nova: She saved the mortally wounded ChoJo with Speedheal and pulled him toward cover while bullets continued flying.
Closing Statement
The storage-unit job looked like another attempt to intimidate Jack Skorkowski. However, the evidence pointed somewhere stranger. The scavengers did not appear to cause the original destruction. They simply exploited the opening after someone planted a charge outside the garage. That distinction changed the entire case.
Iris’s recovered footage placed a Net 54 van and an unidentified female reporter at the property moments before the explosion. That timing was suspicious enough. Defect’s bumper-sticker discovery made it actionable. The Net 54 Mystery now had a destination, not just a damaged recording and a corporate logo.
The battle also showed how costly a simple property check could become. ChoJo came dangerously close to death. Nova’s quick use of Speedheal kept him alive, while Bull’s shield bought precious time under shotgun fire. Thiago’s Valentino contacts ultimately broke the stalemate. They removed the surviving threat, returned the stolen goods, and helped secure the garage.
Meanwhile, Project Halcyon continued reaching into the crew’s personal lives. Rowan Vale’s name tied Iris’s estranged father to the stolen corporate data. Defect had already learned that his rejected birth name appeared in Halcyon’s batch records. Now another family connection had entered the conspiracy. Night City rarely keeps business and blood separate for long.
The crew ended the session inside Kassim’s Turkish Coffee Bar, bringing the Net 54 Mystery to its next suspect. A Net 54 van waited outside, while a woman resembling the reporter sat inside. They had found a lead, but they hadn’t approached her yet. The next conversation could expose who ordered the garage explosion, why Jack’s properties remain targets, or how the attack connects to the wider campaign.
Net 54 Mystery delivered one hard fight and several sharper questions. The scavengers are gone, but the person behind the breach remains free. Episode 8 begins with the crew staring directly at the woman who may know why.
