In this campaign session, the investigators in Lima, Peru, continue to unravel the dark mysteries surrounding an ancient pyramid and its connection to a mysterious cult. The group, now joined by archaeologist Ezekiel Thorne, faces a disturbing turn of events as Professor Sanchez, a key figure in their investigation, falls victim to a strange and life-threatening incident. The professor’s cryptic ramblings about being kissed by a man named Mendoza, a figure with deep blue eyes, leave the investigators puzzled and alarmed. This encounter hints at a deeper and more sinister force, further complicating their search for answers.

As they delve deeper into the investigation, the team uncovers a golden mask adorned with ancient Tiwanaku symbols, which seems to tie into the eerie occurrences surrounding the expedition. The session is filled with tension, dark humor, and intense speculation as the investigators try to make sense of the increasingly bizarre and supernatural events. With each clue they uncover, the line between reality and myth grows blurrier, setting the stage for even more significant challenges ahead.

• Professor Sanchez’s Condition:
  • The investigators start the adventure in Professor Sanchez’s office, where they find him being taken away to the hospital. The professor, severely injured after an encounter with a mysterious larva, mumbles incoherently, saying, “He kissed me!”. The group is puzzled and concerned by the professor’s deteriorating condition and the strange circumstances surrounding his injury.
• The Golden Ward and Mysterious Symbols:
  • The group examines a golden ward they discovered, which is believed to be an ancient artifact from the Tiwanaku culture. They notice that the rod has been broken and attempt to decipher the engraved symbols. These symbols match those found on a rosary belonging to Alejandro, one of the investigators, and a sketch in Bessie’s journal, hinting at a deeper connection to ancient rituals.

During the visit, Sanchez becomes agitated when recalling the events leading to his injury, particularly the strange “kiss” from Mendoza. His agitation escalates to a dangerous level, causing a medical emergency. The investigators are forced to leave as the medical staff works to stabilize him.

  • Back at their hotel, the group discusses the day’s events and speculates on the significance of the golden rod and the strange occurrences. They piece together information from the professor’s ramblings, the symbols on the rod, and their own backgrounds, trying to form a clearer picture of the mysterious forces at play.
• Searching Larkin’s Room:
  • The investigators search Augustus Larkin’s room at the hotel, suspecting he may be hiding something crucial about the expedition. Upon entering, they are shocked to find Larkin himself, who appears to be in a severely weakened and sickly state. The encounter is tense as the investigators press Larkin for information, and it becomes clear that he is under some sort of influence through narcotics. They find some Heroine beside Larkin.
• Searching Mendoza’s Room:
  • The investigators proceed to search Luis de Mendoza’s room. The search reveals disturbing clues, including evidence that points to Mendoza being far more than just a simple assistant to Larkin.
• Confronting Mendoza:
  • After discovering in Larkin’s and Mendoza’s room, the investigators find someone walking up to their rooms and follow them to find Mendoza, who reacts with hostility and a disturbing lack of humanity. The confrontation escalates quickly, revealing Mendoza as a dangerous and possibly supernatural being. The investigators barely manage to fend off Mendoza, who displays inhuman strength and a terrifying presence, confirming their worst fears that they are dealing with something far more sinister than they initially imagined. This encounter leaves the group deeply shaken and more determined than ever to uncover the truth behind the expedition.
