Intro Paragraph
Chrome Cross gave the crew exactly what they needed and absolutely more trouble than anyone ordered. Marianne wanted Blank’s XBD operation stopped because his illegal braindances kept creeping into the Forlorn Hope. The job sounded simple enough on paper. However, Night City loves punishing anyone who says the word “simple” out loud.
The session opened with the crew inside Chrome Cross, a crowded bar full of Red Chrome Legionnaires, heavy drinking, loud customers, and enough bad decisions to qualify as interior design. Blank was there with his bodyguard, dealing chips, pills, and other product from a guarded booth. Bull and Defect spotted the exchange clearly, which confirmed that Blank was still active. More importantly, the crew realized that killing him in the middle of the bar would turn the whole room into a meat grinder.
So ChoJo did what ChoJo does best. He walked into the social fire, charmed Blank, and secured a private midnight meeting at a second location. That address led the team toward the old Ling Po Imports warehouse, where the operation looked less like a slick criminal empire and more like a filthy Night City copy shop for nightmare fuel.
From there, Chrome Cross became the starting point for a messy, violent raid. Nova and Iris slipped inside the warehouse first, playing interested buyers while checking the setup. They found no camera system and no useful jack-in access. However, they did find the real prize: a rare machine copying braindances and XBDs. Once Blank arrived, the plan collapsed into combat, improvisation, and one unforgettable ChoJo problem. By the end, the crew had burned down the operation, killed Blank, and returned to a Forlorn Hope that was already exploding behind them.
Key Characters Introduced
- BD/XBD Technician: This unnamed specialist operated the copying machine inside the Ling Po Imports warehouse, making him the technical heart of Blank’s operation.
- Ling Po Imports Warehouse Crew: These dealers, buyers, and armed mooks protected the warehouse floor, moved product, and became witnesses the crew could not safely leave behind.
Key Events
- Chrome Cross exposed Blank’s operation: Inside the crowded bar, the crew watched Blank pass braindance chips, pills, and other product to customers. The scene confirmed that Marianne’s problem was active, organized, and protected by dangerous company.
- ChoJo secured the midnight warehouse meet: ChoJo used his rockerboy charm to reach Blank through the bodyguard. Inside Chrome Cross Blank offered a private buy later that night, giving the crew a chance to move the job away from Chrome Cross.
- The warehouse revealed the real choke point: Nova and Iris entered the Ling Po Imports warehouse as buyers. Their scouting found no useful cameras or net access, but it did reveal a BD copying machine that kept the operation alive.
- Blank died during the private buy: ChoJo met Blank in a back room, endured the worst kind of Night City sales pitch, then killed him at point-blank range. It was gross, effective, and very on brand.
- The raid ended with fire, blood, and a new disaster: The crew killed Blank’s bodyguard, the technician, and the remaining warehouse threats. They destroyed the XBD machine and stash, only to return to the Forlorn Hope as an explosion tore through the bar.
Standout Party Member Moments
- Bull: Bull read the Red Chrome Legion’s motives in Chrome Cross with sharp street instincts and pushed through several strategic options before the job turned into a warehouse fight.
- Thiago: Thiago looked for alternate routes, sabotage angles, and better leverage, then paid hard when a trapped BD drawer exploded during the cleanup.
- Iris: Iris checked the warehouse for tech, confirmed the lack of cameras or jack-in points, and helped identify the copying machine as the operation’s real weak spot.
- Nova: Nova bluffed her way into the warehouse, bought Piranha Smash, helped scout the floor, and later backed ChoJo’s wild cover story with a strong persuasion play.
- Winter: Winter stayed dangerous with her bow, wounded enemies from the doorway, and chased down a fleeing witness before he could escape the warehouse mess.
- Defect: Defect pushed for practical violence from the start, kept focus on shutting down the operation, and killed the technician who helped keep Blank’s product moving.
- ChoJo: ChoJo carried the social side of the session, lured Blank into a private meeting, killed him, and then helped sell the chaos as the bodyguard’s fault. Nobody said it was graceful. It worked anyway.
Closing Statement
Chrome Cross started as a surveillance problem and ended as the doorway into a full XBD raid. The crew did not just find Blank. They found the rough shape of his business. The bar connected him to buyers, gang-adjacent muscle, and the Red Chrome Legion scene. Meanwhile, the Ling Po Imports warehouse showed how the product moved and how quickly a quiet buy could become a death spiral.
The smartest move was not the cleanest one. ChoJo’s private meeting put him in serious danger, yet it also gave the crew their best shot at removing Blank from the board. Once the first shot landed, the rest of the team had to improvise through panic, lies, arrows, gunfire, explosions, and collapsing witness control. Night City did not reward patience, but it did reward commitment.
By the end, Marianne’s request looked complete on paper. Blank was dead. The bodyguard was dead. The technician was dead. The copier and XBD stash were destroyed. However, the final scene made victory feel very temporary. The crew rolled back toward the Forlorn Hope expecting to report a successful job. Instead, they saw smoke, injured people, and a bombed-out bar with people trapped inside.
That cliffhanger changes everything. If Blank’s operation had allies, they may have struck first. If another enemy used the chaos as cover, the crew just walked into a much larger war. Either way, the Forlorn Hope is no longer just Marianne’s bar or the crew’s neighborhood anchor. It is now a rescue scene, a crime scene, and maybe the opening shot of the next disaster. Hope Reborn keeps living up to its name, mostly by making everyone earn the “hope” part with bruises, bad choices, and fresh trauma.
