Intro Paragraph
GRAF3 Car Chase hurled the Hope Reborn crew into a rolling gunfight with Spoof’s Bozos. Bull drove Jack Skorkowski’s truck while armed clowns fired from the stolen flatbed. The crew needed to recover both vehicles and the massive construction robot with minimal damage. That made every bullet, sudden swerve, and risky decision more expensive.
Iris quickly found the GRAF3 access point. She breached its three-floor network architecture, bypassed the password, and fought a Wisp guarding the control node. Once she seized the machine, the pursuit changed. The Bozos were no longer carrying stolen equipment. They were standing on the crew’s newest weapon.
The firefight remained vicious. A critical shot passed through the windshield and destroyed ChoJo’s right hand. He had no functioning armor to soften the hit. Even so, ChoJo kept filming and later landed a pistol shot with his left hand. Defect also suffered a torn muscle after a powerful rifle round ignored his armor. Nova answered with Speedheal and forced him toward cover.
Meanwhile, Bull fought to close the distance. One critical driving roll sent the truck surging toward the flatbed. Defect used Iris’s excellent-quality rifle to tear through the remaining gunmen. Thiago pulled ChoJo away from the exposed cab and contacted a ripperdoc before the chase had even ended.
The GRAF3 Car Chase reached its climax when Iris swung the robot at Spoof. He dodged the first attempt with an acrobatic flourish. The next strike knocked him from the speeding flatbed, and Bull avoided him as he hit the road. With Spoof dead and the remaining resistance cleared, the crew recovered Jack’s equipment and preserved the future home of the Forlorn Hope.
Key Characters Introduced
- No New Named Characters: Episode 9 focused on the established crew, Spoof’s known Bozo gang, and the conclusion of the stolen GRAF3 pursuit.
Key Events
- The Moving Firefight Begins: Bull pursued the stolen flatbed while Bozos fired from its cargo bed. The crew returned fire carefully because Jack wanted his truck and construction robot recovered with minimal damage.
- Iris Hijacks the GRAF3: Iris breached the robot’s network, defeated its Wisp, and seized the control node. She then turned the heavy machine against the clowns riding beside it.
- ChoJo Loses His Right Hand: A critical shot tore through the windshield and dismembered ChoJo’s dominant hand. He continued fighting left-handed until Nova could attempt emergency surgery.
- The GRAF3 Car Chase Kills Spoof: Iris swung the construction robot into the Bozo leader and knocked him from the flatbed. Bull avoided the fallen clown, leaving Spoof dead on the road.
- The Crew Recovers Jack’s Equipment: Defect helped clear the remaining gunmen, and the crew eventually stopped the flatbed with minimal damage. Jack paid each member 1,500 eddies, while Marianne added another 500 for securing the proposed Forlorn Hope property.
Standout Party Member Moments
- Bull: He scored a critical driving result that closed the gap, kept the crew in pursuit, and avoided bodies falling from the flatbed.
- ChoJo: He kept filming after losing his dominant hand and landed a strong pistol hit while firing left-handed from the truck bed.
- Thiago: He pulled ChoJo from the exposed cab, contacted a ripperdoc during the chase, and settled his personal score with Spoof after the fight.
- Defect: He continued firing after a torn muscle, critically wounded one Bozo, and killed the final visible gunman before the flatbed stopped.
- Nova: She used Speedheal on the badly wounded Defect, then passed the crucial Surgery check that reattached ChoJo’s hand within the ten-round limit.
- Iris: She conquered the GRAF3 network, transformed the stolen robot into the decisive weapon of the GRAF3 Car Chase, and knocked Spoof from the speeding flatbed.
Closing Statement
The GRAF3 Car Chase delivered the payoff promised by Episode 8. Spoof’s elaborate campaign against Jack ended on the same road where he tried to escape with the realtor’s equipment. The Bozo leader had bombs, fake hauntings, glitter grenades, and armed followers. None of that prepared him for Iris taking control of the machine beneath his feet.
Iris dominated the encounter without firing a conventional weapon. Her network breach neutralized the Wisp and stripped another operator from the control node. Then she used the GRAF3’s moving neck like a mechanical battering ram. Several Bozos tumbled from the flatbed before Spoof finally joined them.
However, the victory left scars. ChoJo’s missing armor turned one rifle hit into a dismembered hand. His decision to keep fighting was reckless, brave, and perfectly on brand. Nova’s improved medical skill saved the hand before the recovery window closed. It works again, although it still needs proper clinical care and looks like something assembled during a thunderstorm.
Defect also learned the cost of fighting in the open. A critical hit tore a muscle and nearly dropped him. Nova’s Speedheal kept him active, while Iris’s rifle gave him the range needed to punish the fleeing Bozos. His final shots helped clear the truck and end the chase.
The recovered MicroWaver added a useful prize. The exotic heavy pistol fires electrical ammunition that disables electronics and cyberware for one minute. Bull claimed it after searching Spoof’s remains with Thiago. It deals no conventional damage, but in Night City, switching off the wrong implant can be nastier than a bullet.
Most importantly, the crew returned the flatbed and GRAF3 with only limited damage. Jack paid 1,500 eddies per person. Marianne then confirmed that John was breathing easier, approved legal review of the property, and sent another 500 eddies each. The new Forlorn Hope finally has a viable location.
GRAF3 Car Chase closes this chapter of Hope Reborn with Spoof dead and Jack’s property secured. Next comes rent, repairs, shopping, and possibly a difficult visit with Iris’s estranged father. The clown war may be over, but Project Halcyon still has several doors left to kick open.
