Episode 4 – Hope Reborn – Night City Carjacking Unleashes a Brutal Gang Ambush

Night City Carjacking turned a desperate street defense into Hope Reborn’s wildest vehicle takeover yet. The crew had barely escaped the collapsing Forlorn Hope when Red Chrome Legionnaires arrived in an overloaded pickup. Marianne needed time to move John and the wounded survivors toward safety. Therefore, the edgerunners stayed behind, tired and exposed, to stop six drugged gangers from reaching them. The attackers looked chemically charged and eager for violence, which removed any lingering hope of talking through the problem.

The attackers spilled into the street while their truck accelerated toward the fleeing survivors. Bull held the forward position and punished anyone who came close. Iris used broken walls and camouflage for cover. Meanwhile, Defect struggled through a brutal run of missed shots, and ChoJo waited for the fight to reach a survivable distance. The Night City Carjacking began when Thiago made a reckless choice. He grabbed the moving truck, climbed into its bed, and shot the unsuspecting driver through the rear window.

That left a speeding truck, a dead driver, and several friends directly ahead. Nova shot out the front-right tire, forcing the vehicle away from Grace and the others. Thiago fought into the cab, turned the damaged pickup around, and drove it back toward the gang. The Night City Carjacking ended with one Legionnaire crushed beneath his own vehicle and the rest overwhelmed by gunfire. Grace also returned to the danger with an assault rifle and proved that the bar’s singer could handle more than a stage. Yet the episode did not stop with the battle. At the clinic, the crew learned John might not recover. Later, Iris found the first real clue pointing toward whoever destroyed the Forlorn Hope.

Key Characters Introduced

• Edelweiss: This Forlorn Hope survivor escaped the explosion and waited at the clinic with the others. She joined Grace and the bar’s regulars in mourning Petra.
• Phoenix Redwing: This doctor and friend of the Freemans ran the no-questions-asked clinic treating John and the other injured survivors.

Key Events

• The Red Chrome Legionnaires attacked the survivors: Six drugged gangers arrived while Marianne pushed John toward the parking lot. The crew held the street so the injured Forlorn Hope regulars could escape.
• Thiago launched the Night City Carjacking: He grabbed the speeding pickup, climbed into its bed, and killed the driver through the rear window. He then forced his way into the cab while the uncontrolled vehicle continued toward the survivors.

Standout Party Member Moments

• Winter: Winter did not join the main action during this session. Considering the gunfire, collapsing bar, and improvised traffic violence, absence remained a remarkably sound defensive strategy.
• Defect: Defect found solid cover in the Forlorn Hope rubble and kept moving despite a miserable shooting streak. During downtime, he resumed the difficult search for Biotechnica and Project Halcyon leads with Thiago.
• ChoJo: ChoJo finally rushed into point-blank range, invoked Trinity, and delivered the close-range attack that ended the last Legionnaire’s resistance. His attempt to sell braindance footage later failed because the recording mostly captured terrible angles.
• Bull: Bull stood closest to the advancing gang, destroyed one attacker’s shooting hand, dodged repeated fire, and grappled another Legionnaire. He became the wall the others could retreat behind.
• Nova: Nova made the shot that redirected the speeding truck away from the survivors. She later accompanied the wounded to the clinic and paid extra to have the captured pickup’s registration erased.
• Iris: Iris used camouflage and rubble during the firefight, then reviewed the recovered security footage. Her careful search revealed the mysterious figure who may have planted the bomb.
• Thiago: Thiago defined the Night City Carjacking by leaping onto the moving truck, killing its driver, taking control, and running down a Legionnaire. He later claimed the pickup, funded its repairs, and returned his entire reward to Marianne.

Closing Statement

Night City Carjacking delivered a chaotic victory, but the celebration never had room to breathe. The crew stopped the Red Chrome Legionnaires, protected the survivors, and gained a battered pickup. However, the clinic brought the cost of the explosion back into focus. Petra was dead. John remained stable but critically ill, and his damaged lungs could not accept a transplant or cyberware. Marianne had lost a friend, her home, and possibly her husband within one terrible night.

Even so, Hope Reborn finally earned the second half of its name. Marianne promised to rebuild the Forlorn Hope and hired an investigator to uncover the attacker. Thiago and Bull returned their rewards to help her, while Nova kept half for medical supplies. The captured pickup also received a new tire, repaired glass, fresh paint, and erased registration. It was not exactly a clean acquisition. Still, the Night City Carjacking gave the crew transportation, leverage, and one extremely questionable piece of rolling evidence.

The most important development came from Iris. Her footage showed a concealed figure entering early, staying near camera blind spots, and moving toward the area where the explosion began. The suspect’s small, feminine build gives the investigation a direction, but not an identity. Iris also bought an excellent assault rifle after Grace demonstrated the value of better range. Meanwhile, Thiago and Defect still lack answers about Biotechnica, Halcyon, and Militech. The crew survived the ambush and began rebuilding its strength. Next time, the Night City Carjacking may look like the easy part, because finding the bomber means learning who wanted the Forlorn Hope erased.
